Portraiture as an Investigation of Identity, Power, and Lived Realities
This work embraces Arts-Based methodologies as a lens through which to explore the fluid and often unseen dynamics of identity, power, and equity within educational spaces. By interweaving artistic and scholarly practices, it seeks to reveal the rich, layered experiences of educators and students in the visual arts classroom.
This inquiry is both an illumination and an invitation—offering insights that reimagine pedagogy, curriculum, and institutional frameworks as more inclusive, agentful, and deeply responsive to the complexities of human expression and learning.
All work is created digitally, referencing original photographs that feature myself and students.
Here, I show all photographic and linear information is removed to highlight the spectrums of light and space that frame a moment in time.
Positionality, relationships, and a sense of play and trust are apparent throughout this work-in-progress. As I continue to capture the fleeting moments of partnership and creation, I pay careful attention to visual harmony, balance, and the metaphors suggested therein.
