Books

Vessels for time, space and narrative: books are a dynamic way to communicate.

I have recently been using non-traditional book forms to explore layering, connections, and perspectives.

Pop-up book inspired by the dances of Merce Cunningham and Loie Fuller.

Loie Fuller

Exploration of Dance and Drawing

Inspired by the ephemeral dances of Loie Fuller and Merce Cunningham, this pop-up book presents a stage of lines, both drawn and those suggested by gesture.

As I composed this work, I was very cognizant of movement, space, and relationships. Every choice I made, from cutting, collaging, folding, to placement in the background, middle, or foreground, began to feel like elements of a dance. Balancing out multiple variables suggested a type of choreography.

This work is very new, but exciting. I enjoy the simplicity of form still being able to suggest a larger place.
